The Syndicate Block was located on Nicollect Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets (map).  Built in 1883, it was the city's first commercial building to span an entire block.

J. C. Penney Company took over the building in the 1950's and moved out in the early 1980's. The building was demolished in 1989.
